Maybe the only way out is through?

I’m not saying “resistance is futile”, but it is starting to look like Musk and Trump (let’s just call them Mump) are likely to succeed in their horribly misguided quest to radically shrink our federal government. Judges may issue rulings, but who will enforce them, now that Mump owns the AG and FBI? Lawsuits may be filed, but they’ll drag on forever and Mump will appeal to SCOTUS who will likely side in their favor. And every last member of the spineless Republican majority in Congress is afraid to stand up to Mump.

My prediction, however, is that a large, emerging coalition of voters will quickly realize that much, if not most, of what the government does really does improve their lives and is not a waste of taxpayer dollars. When our seniors and Veterans can’t get health care, when illnesses and deaths from contaminated food/water/air soar (or God forbid the next pandemic hits and we are even less prepared than we were in 2020), when schools and the Arts go dark from lack of funds, when cutting off international aid causes chaos and resentment abroad…all while the super rich continue to hoard even more wealth.. and state taxes go through the roof to make up the shortfall… when unemployment and homelessness soar… when the economy tanks and people’s retirement funds are in the toilet … when more planes start falling out of the sky… the people will take notice.

Republicans, I say to you: fuck around with our government, and you will find out. The midterms are coming.
