Adding a second tier to my keyboard rig

I’m very excited about finally having added a second tier to my keyboard rig.

Several months ago I bought a new Casio Privia piano, which I’ve been very happy with – 88 keys, weighted action feel, great sound, and only about 20 pounds! Amazing!

The one drawback vs. my old Yamaha Clavinova was I couldn’t put my other keyboard – a Korg X5D with good organ, strings, and synth sounds – on top of it.

I bought a set of second tier attachments that were supposed to fit onto my existing piano stand, but I couldn’t find any way to attach them.

Fortunately, Lowe’s and my neighbor Dave came to my rescue. I found some square iron pipe in the home furnishings dept. (I think this was designed for stairwells), which Dave cut in two pieces and welded to the bottom of the piano stand. (Dude’s got some serious toolz and skillz!) I was able to attach the top tier to these and it worked like a charm! Tried it out last Saturday night at a gig and it’s absolutely perfect.
